The importance of Allergen Emphasis stems directly from food safety regulations and consumer protection.

But what does it actually mean? Well, Allergen Emphasis refers to the way that certain allergens - namely the 14 major food allergens or dietary information, is highlighted or presented either within a Product Specification, menu listing or a physical product label. More specifically:

What is Allergen Emphasis in Erudus?

Instead of just listing allergens on their Product Specifications, Erudus allows Manufacturers to apply specific formatting or emphasis to them and will accept any obvious form of emphasis, including:

  • Bold Text: Making the allergen stand out (e.g., Milk, Wheat).
  • Underlining: Though less common in digital display, this is a traditional labeling method. (e.g. Milk, Wheat)
  • Italics: This is seen as less impactful, but can be used. (e.g. Milk, Wheat)
  • Capitalisation: (e.g. MILK, WHEAT)

The goal is to draw immediate attention to the presence of common allergens, usually within the ingredients list, and in line with legal requirements.

Below you can see exactly how it works within the Erudus Product Editor.

Step 1

When editing a product, navigate to the ‘Ingredients’ section of the Product Editor.
