Release Notes September 2026: New features, attributes, validations and system fixes to Erudus

At Erudus we’re always looking to improve - to make life easier for our customers and progress in our mission to make accurate food data more accessible. So we frequently introduce new features to our platform, and perform upgrades and fixes that keep things running smoothly and come as a direct response to any issues that our users are having. With that in mind, here’s what our team have been working on lately…
New Features

Download multiple PDF specifications at once
You can now download the PDF specification for every product in a product list as a single ZIP file, instead of opening each product one by one. Wholesalers can do the same from a customer’s purchase history. Progress is shown while the files are prepared, and any product that couldn’t be included is listed once the download is ready. This makes it much easier to supply full specifications where a CSV isn’t accepted, such as in tenders or for customers who aren’t on Erudus. For step-by-step guidance, see our Knowledge Base article: How to download multiple product PDFs as a ZIP file.
Wholesaler users
Changes of manufacturer now shown in your product changes
When a product moves from one manufacturer account to another, it now creates a new major version recorded as a transfer, naming the manufacturer it came from and the one it moved to. You’ll see this alongside your other product changes, so you can vet the new manufacturer against your own requirements and contact them to maintain supply.
Fixes
All users
Product list PDF downloads no longer hang
Downloading a large product list as a PDF could leave the “Generating PDF” spinner running indefinitely with no file and no error. The PDF now downloads as expected, and if generation does fail you’ll see an error with a support reference. Lists of more than 500 products now show a message pointing you to the CSV download, which handles lists of any size.
Image Hub search and product details restored
Image Hub users could not filter by brand, keyword searches returned no products, and selecting an image showed “Product details not available”. Brand filtering, product search and the product details panel are all working again.
Validations
Dietary claims checked against product name and description
Where a product is marked as not suitable for vegetarians, vegans, halal or kosher diets but its name or description says otherwise, the Product Editor now raises a Quality Check Notice on that claim. A product described as vegan also raises a notice if its vegetarian claim is set to “No”. This applies to all specification types except Non Food, Chemicals and Disposables.
“British” products checked against Country of Origin
Where a product name describes it as British but the country of origin is not Great Britain, the United Kingdom, England, Scotland or Wales, a Quality Check Notice is now raised against the country of origin.
Changes to identifiers on published products
Changing the GTIN, internal GTIN or manufacturer product code on a product that is already published now raises a Quality Check Notice asking you to confirm the change, as it repoints a live specification that wholesalers may already be using. Adding or removing a leading zero on a GTIN is not treated as a change.
BRCGS certification without a scheme
Where BRCGS Certified is set to “Yes” but no BRCGS scheme has been declared, a Quality Check Notice is now raised so the accreditation information is usable to buyers. It clears as soon as a scheme is declared.
Outer case weights and Free From claims
A Quality Check Notice now appears where the outer case net or gross weight is over 1,000 kg, as a reminder to check the figure has been entered in kilograms. A second notice appears where more than four Free From claims are made, as each claim is a formal declaration backed by controls and testing.
Palm oil and milk over-declarations
Where palm oil is declared but the ingredients mention neither palm nor an unnamed vegetable oil or fat, or milk is declared as present but nothing in the ingredients indicates milk, a Quality Check Notice is now raised. Over-declaring can put buyers off a product unnecessarily.
About Quality Check Notices
All of the Quality Check Notices above are advisory: they update as soon as the relevant data changes, do not block publishing, and can be dismissed where the data is correct as entered.
New Attributes
New Compostability attribute
A new Compostability attribute has been added in its own section at the top of Sustainability in the Product Editor, with a choice of Domestically Compostable or Commercially Compostable. It is optional and available across all specification types.
